SUSTITUCIÓN DE IMPORTACIONES
Sustitución de importaciones es un concepto se usa en el contexto de la economía y las finanzas públicas.
Sustitución de importaciones: Proceso por el cual aquellosbienes que antes importaba el país, pasan a ser producidos internamente.
En un sentido más amplio, Sustitución de importaciones también puede involucrar aquellas medidas de política económica quefavorecen el proceso de sustitución de importaciones, tales como establecer altas tarifas a la importación de bienes, depósitos previos de importación, y en general cualquier barrera artificial a lainternación de bienes extranjeros al país.
No obstante, la sustitución de importaciones puede ser consecuencia de la evolución natural del mercado, el que responde a las disminuciones de los costos de laproducción nacional, o a las mejoras de calidad de los productos nacionales.
Al este proceso se le denomina adquisición de ventajas comparativas, cuyo resultado consiste en asignar los recursosproductivos a la producción de aquellos bienes que resultan más rentables, de mejor calidad y de menores costos.
