Los semiconductores se hallan también en la base de las nuevas modalidades de telecomunicación, como la teleinformática y la telemática. La sustitución de los cables metálicos por fibra óptica y la utilización de satélites artificiales han facilitado la transmisión de información a grandes distancias».

Todo esto, como demostraciones de respuesta a las necesidades de la comunicación entrelos humanos, hasta alcanzar por desarrollo técnico, lo que hoy llamamos telecomunicaciones, que involucra actualmente la telefonía celular. Ha progresado tanto la sofisticación de las telecomunicaciones, que su empleo y presencia están actuando con mucha eficacia en los campos industriales de todas las empresas; la robótica; la electromedicina; los sistemas de controles; la electrónica deconsumos; la misma geoñsica y redes digitales de televisión. También hacen parte de los sistemas de telecomunicación eléctrica o electrónica, los procesos de simulación; los análisis de cataclismos; el teléfono; el sonar; la radio; el radar; los controles de navegación; los instrumentos electromecánicos para laboratorios; las nuevas metodologías biomédicas y un sin fin de variadas aplicaciones.»Telecomunicación.
